When it comes time to choose a roofing contractor in Colorado…

Okay, let us address the elephant in the room before we dive into this article.

We understand that as a roofing contractor in Colorado, attempting to write an article aimed at choosing a roofer might seem a bit…biased. However, our aim in this post really is to equip you as a home or property owner with the knowledge and tools you need to choose well. Whether that means you sign a contract with us, or decide to go another route—we hope that your decision will be grounded in solid advice when it comes to who you let on your roof. All of that said, here are a few things we have made our aim, and hope you will consider when you are choosing a roofing contractor to work with.

Local Matters

This might be a simple idea, but it holds some depth that often times goes overlooked. It’s not enough to hire the roofer that you see driving around town. You can protect your budget, project, and peace of mind when you take a few minutes to research whether that roofing contractor is truly local. A good way to do this is to make sure these things are true of them:

  • They have an office based in or very near to your city
  • They have (well) completed jobs in your surrounding neighborhoods over the past five years
  • They hold all local licensing
  • They are familiar with area regulations and requirements

The aim here is to avoid “storm chasers” or companies that move in and out of town as quickly as the storms do. These types of companies may do fine work, but they won’t be sticking around long after your project is complete should any issues arise. Further, they might not be familiar with local codes and regulations, which can leave you in a costly bind.

Experience Matters

The majority of startup companies close their doors within three years of business. It takes a lot of hard work, knowledge, and perseverance to run a successful business—and that is exactly what you want in a roofing contractor—a history of success. It is best to choose a roofer who has five or more years of experience to their name.

Reputation Matters

Speaking of a history of success—online reviews and word-of-mouth referrals are a very smart way to find a great local roofing contractor. When you are considering a roofer, hop online to Google+, Facebook, Yelp, Angie’s List, and the BBB. Check out what people are saying about their work. Ask your friends and neighbors who they have used, and what their experience was. Check out local area Facebook community pages, and create a post asking for recommendations. If a certain roofing company’s name keeps coming up, then it might be good to check out their website, and see whether they fit the above criteria, and if they can come out that week to offer a free inspection!

Finding a quality, local roofing contractor in Colorado does not have to be a science. However, the industry is plentiful, and it can prove a bit tricky to wade through the many options. Follow the advice outlined above, invest a bit of time and research, and make sure that whoever is on your roof knows exactly what they are doing, and has your best interest in mind!
