What to Look for in a Commercial Roofing Contractor

What-to-Look-for-in-a-Commercial-Contractor-1-5e2f16ec22db7

When managing a commercial building, you only want the very best to be working on the repairs and maintenance that the property needs. This is especially true for the roof of a commercial building. In today’s blog post, the team at Denali Roofing is going to cover a few of the things that you want to seek out in your commercial roofing contractor.

Licenses & Certificates

Whenever you hire a roofing contractor, you want to make sure that they have the necessary licenses and certificates necessary to work on roofs and that they’re all up to date. What may seem like “just a piece of paper” is actually the accreditation and proof that the roofer you’re working with knows what they’re doing and is certified to get the job done.

When you choose to work with a commercial roofing contractor, make sure you get copies of their licenses, certificates, and affiliations.

Insurance

Another document that you’re going to want to ask about and get copies of is their insurance. The commercial roofing company that you hire should be licensed and have documentation of it readily available. This document shows that you are not liable in the case of any of the workers getting injured while on the job, something that you certainly want to be sure of before any work gets started.

Experience

As with every professional that you hire, you want to make sure that they have experience with the work that they’re doing. Even though a roofing company has been around for decades, you aren’t going to want them working on your commercial roof if they haven’t had any experience working on commercial roofs.

Before you hire a commercial roofing contractor, do your due diligence and figure out what their experience looks like in regards to the services that you need.

Ask Lots of Questions

As you go about looking for the right commercial roofing contractor for your building, you want to make sure that you are asking plenty of questions. Though you could give a company the benefit of the doubt or assume certain things, it’s always better to get clear answers. For example, it’s always better to ask if the roofing contractor is insured than assume that they are. By simply asking, you can save yourself from being liable for any injuries that happen on the job.

Always Check Reviews

One of the best ways to get an idea of the work a company does is to look at their reviews. Reviews are going to be where you can find both the good and the bad of previous customers. By spending some time looking at what previous customers have said, you can determine for yourself whether or not the comments in the reviews are things that you need to be concerned with or, at the very least, better determine whether or not this is a company that you want to work with.
